I've seen a lot of people say just that. Things like 'nobody wants to see that' or 'it's not proper unless it's the beach or indoors' and other things. It irks me. It's a damn bellybutton. It's not THAT offensive. What, are they worried girls are going to send men the wrong message? Psh. It's not the women's fault if some dude is a pervert, and even then, not showing skin can have the same effect. It's ridiculous in my opinion.
How is it that, during the 90s and early 2000s, belly baring was fine and seen as acceptable, but now we've gone back to it being unacceptable? I don't get it. *shakes head* Suffice to say, the high waisted style sucks. If it's for younger girls? That's fine. I prefer it that way, because it shouldn't be seen on young kids unless it's at home or a friendly environment. But to see an adult woman wearing that...
Maybe we're biased?
