I saw Wonder Woman recently. I thought it was fine, but nothing truly special. Certainly not as good as people crack it up to be.
Pros:
Supporting Characters
Positive Message
Good Editing/Good Running Length
Similar qualities to Captain America and Thor(though I personally would've set it in modern times, but I digress)
Faithful to Source Material
Mixed:
Basic Story
Cheesy, Unnecessary Romance
Neuturing power of Amazons(they can be defeated by any gun, apparently)
Amazons being pretty bland
Cons:
Story lacked a personal journey for Diana, who wasn't really interesting. She lacked likable qualities, like her kindness and warm heart.
Too much focus on her beauty(I despise the sheer number of dramatic hair flips she had), also a "flawless" portrayal where she doesn't get visibly hurt, or dirty
Lame Villains: Ares the god of "Imperfect world, must recreate in my own image", Generic Evil Nazi, and Doctor Poison. Doctor.Freaking. Poison
Inconsistencies and Illogical fallacies
Terrible action scenes that rely on cheap CGI, and way too many slow motion effects
Gal Gadot is a thief of charisma
Rating: 6/10
I wrote a whole article about the movie for the front page. For the most part, I liked that it was a throwback to old school, 80s/90s era blockbusters. And I completely agree with you. As beautiful and charming as Gal Gadot is, she was just not right for the role.
