Top 4 things that I have a problem with there.
1. It just feels wrong for Hellboy to not sound like Ron Perlman when he speaks.
2. Way too much dependence on humor, and none of it is funny. Yes, we get it, Marvel tells all the jokes, but you don't need to follow their example.
3. The product placement. Okay, I get the play on words with the Monster energy drink, but still, it comes across as so forced.
4. Much like the transition between Pacific Rim 1 and 2, without Del Toro, the dark and gothic mood is gone and everything looks too bright and generic.
In other news, you may gaze upon the supernatural cuteness of Lana Condor. Or if you're a foot fetishist, admire her bare feet.
