The Last Showgirl gets a solid A-.
Obviously plenty of scenes with showgirls in bare midriff outfits during various parts of the movie, especially the beginning and very end.
Kiernan Shipka is the MVP, of course. Along with her showgirl outfits, she wears a cropped top early on in the movie, because if her bellybutton isn’t showing at least once, is it truly a Kiernan movie? She also has a scene where she does a lap dancer type performance while in her underwear, including holding a split for an impressively long time. It’s the sexiest highlight of the movie.
Billie Lourd at one point wears a small top that shows her lower belly. Other than the showgirl outfits, Brenda Song has a scene towards the end where she’s in a bra and sweatpants. Jamie Lee Curtis even appears in her underwear, but her waistband to her pantyhose is over her bellybutton. And the best views from Pamela Anderson are at the very end in her final showgirl outfit.
As for the movie as a whole, if you’re expecting something campy like Showgirls, you’ll be disappointed. This is a drama with a capital D. Lots of monologues about how “my life has hit rock bottom” and “the world has left me behind” and such. It’s pretty much gender flipped “The Wrestler”, complete with the estranged daughter who hates their parent for their life choices.
