Leave it to the Nostalgia Critic, haha. I'll have to watch this.
It's sad that Batman V Superman didn't turn out well. I know that some of you guys don't care for Cavill as Superman, and that's fine. I thought he was good in Man of Steel, a movie which, as I've said, I understand the flaws in it, but I do enjoy it a lot. And I feel like the general audience seems to really like Affleck as Batman and felt Gadot as Wonder Woman was good, too. Oh, and Jeremy Irons as Alfred, too. But yeah, from what I've seen, the film is incredibly disjointed and an all around mess, with a lot of bad calls left and right, and a lot of division in terms of things like Doomsday and Luthor's portrayal. I think they should have done the Marvel route, at least for the first few films in which they introduce the Justice League characters, and THEN done this sort of movie. *sigh* Shame.
Affleck did his best with what he was given to work with. While his acting is fine, Batman shouldn't be straight-up murdering people left and right, while using guns no less. Apologists will say "But he did that during the first two years of his publication". Sorry, but if you have to go all the way back to the first two years of when a 75 year old character was published to defend him, that's just bending over backwards and grasping for straws. Not to mention, the reason why he had guns and killed back then was because Batman, whether you want to admit it or not, was a rip-off of the pulp anti-hero, The Shadow. In this movie, however, it feels like Snyder has him kill because he wants Batman to be as "badass" as the Punisher.
Cavill, I'm sorry, I don't know why a select few fans like him as Superman. I get that he looks like the character more than any actor before him, what with the strong jawline and jacked up body, but his acting is sub-par. He never smiles, something Superman is know for, as he's suppose to be a symbol of hope, yet this version of him is anything but that. His line delivery is flat, and all he does is brood, even more so than Batman. He acts like being a savior of the world is this huge burden or annoyance, rather than a calling. It only shows that Snyder doesn't have a clear understanding of the character, which is only further shown when he claims to not understand why fans think that the 1978 and 1980 Superman movies are the best portrayal of the character.
On the positive side, sassy mouthed Alfred is fun, and it is nice to finally see Wonder Woman on the big screen, even though I'm not totally won over with Gal Gadot in the role (I don't like the accent she's using, and she needs to seriously bulk up to Jessica Biel in Blade: Trinity/Sheath levels). Sadly, it seems DC's master plan is to just have Affleck's Batman appear in every single movie, since he's also appearing in Suicide Squad, and he's rumored to have a cameo in Wonder Woman's solo movie. In other words, Batman is the only character DC knows how to market.
