Outiepopper
This will most likely be my final response to your feedback. I don’t like repeating myself or get involved with online tussles. Especially where the opposite party lacks the mental capacity to absorb constructive dialogue or engage in meaningful discussion.
Outiepopper After two years you can’t tell me to have more patience, that’s silly.
A great deal can—and has—changed in just two years, particularly in the realm of copyright laws and their impact on public discourse and content-sharing platforms like Belly, Inc.
Some back story:
During the time we moved to Flarum, the E.U had announced that it was making drastic reforms to copyright laws and this was going change the course of internet history in E.U. The law passed in 2019. Each EU member state had until June 2021 to implement it.
Now, I don’t have funds to create a “multi-million pound copyright content upload filter”. Google spent $100M for Youtube. At the time I was thinking about the possibility of either disabling, removing all images or ‘ultimately’ shutting our doors down for good.
@Mods can attest to this.
As a result, webmasters were in a state of limbo. I was waiting on the dust to settle.
If this wasn’t bad enough, U.S.A is in discussions about updating their “Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA)”.
I could’ve spent my hard-earned cash fixing the missing images earlier, but why would anyone ‘logically’ do this if the future of your website was and is being threatened by governmental laws?
Outiepopper You promised o fix the problem of the old content being gone, making it available again but it never happened! Having lost that much content was the worst and definitely not worth it.
There’s no argument there, I did promise this and I standby it. However, I don’t recall giving anyone a deadline for completion?
Please remember this website is not making any profit. The site is not funded by anyone other than myself. There are no donators. no sugar daddies or mommies (shoutout to sugar mommies 😉).
For us today, the priority is addressing the site being able to serve the people who view our site over two million times a year.
Our severs are struggling with its current set-up and we’re at a point, where we’re going to have to think about switching everything to nginx sever.
I want to reiterate what myself and @Mods do here is entirely voluntary and offered free at no-cost to our users.
I don’t like Flarum at all, in fact I hate it with passion, Simplemachines was way much better. Also can’t remember anyone saying that they prefer the new version over the old one, didn’t read a single post where anyone said that the new board would be better in any way which is pretty telling to me.
It’s understandable that you might not have seen any negative feedback on our old site — after all, people who are satisfied with something usually don’t feel the need to flood support sections with comments, right?
Outiepopper It’s more like devolving than evolving and that’s not a good trend to follow.
I’d be interested to read what your “vision” of “evolution” looks like in this context.
Outiepopper I didn’t just speak about category navigation, that has become pretty awful too but THREAD navigation (inside a specific thread) has become really terrible. When a thread has like 300 post it’s a nightmare to search for a specific one, especially when it’s somewhere in the middle of the thread.
I am aware of this. Flarum developers are working on flarum 2.0 and have confirmed they will be adding a feature where you can search within a thread. More details here.
Outiepopper Pages that have limited posts per page are so much easier to navigate through!
Ah, the old ‘limited posts per page’ mindset — it’s almost like you’re still browsing the web in the dial-up era. We’ve come a long way since then, and now smoother, endless scrolling is the norm for a reason. But hey, if you’re nostalgic for those slower, more cumbersome days, I get it!
Question. Do you prefer pagination on your phone, WhatsApp messages too?
I can’t imagine apps such as Discord or websites like Reddit, Pinterest and DeviantArt using pagination. If they did, I’d probably stop using it as often.
lol you know why I’m not contributing more? Same reason a lot of other users are gone, because we are annoyed about all that stuff I’ve explained and so there’s no motivation left for us to contribute. Simple as that.
Fair enough. You haven’t contributed on this forum because you dislike some of the functionalities. Have you contributed anything to the kink community on any other platforms within the last 3 years? Ever added any content to reddit groups or started your own? Maybe you have a blog, website, DeviantArt, Pinterest profile, anything?
Maybe you’ve written a novel in the last 3 years?
