Kids television in the U.K. was very conservative up through the 1980's. A lady called Anthea Turner helped change that in 1988 when she did an entire live two hour programme with her belly button very deliberately showing.

And then along came Konnie Huq and Katy Hill on Blue Peter in the mid to late 90's wearing navel bearing tops on almost every edition of the programme.

I think that the first time she exposed hers, her co presenters made a big thing of it. "Katy's got her belly button showing today. Show us your belly button Katy." She hid it instead, but for the next few years it was showing more times than not.

A great example is in the video I've uploaded. From 20 seconds onwards there are five beautiful close ups of it.

When she left Blue Peter I remember her presenting Top Of The Pops for one time only. The studio lighting was so dark, she shone a bright light up at her that illuminated totally the inside of her belly button. It was an incredible piece of television.

Since then, she got married and has a couple of kids. The photos with the blue background were taken after they were born, highlighting how the inside of her belly button has slightly changed. Incredible.
