Do’s and Don’ts of Fitness Wear Fashion

So you like to work out huh? Being healthy and active is such an important aspect of our society and with a majority of the American population having a Body Mass Index (BMI) that puts them in the obese category, getting out there to pound the pavement or take a zumba class is a great way to keep it moving.

While working up a sweat is definitely all about getting that heart rate up, it doesn’t hurt to look good and fashionable while doing it.  Just like there are do’s and don’ts in mainstream fashion, the same holds true for work out gear.

With the new season upon us (hello spring) let’s take a look at some of the “do’s” and “don’ts” for fitness gear.

DO Put Effort into Your Workout Look

Find something that makes you feel good while working out. This will help boost your confidence and give you an extra push. Make it fun and totally you. Try some fitted joggers that scrunch at the ankles and a cut off lightweight hoodie.

DON’T Go Over the Top

We all know when someone is doing the most and sometimes, they look so uncomfortable and awkward. Steer clear of clothing that doesn’t work well for you. Also, don’t wear things that are too shear or see through. We don’t need to see your thong under your yoga pants.

DO Make Sure the Fabric Is For Working Out

This may sound useless but it really does help you when working out to make sure your trendy new shirt and joggers are the right fabric. It will help you stay cool which increases your overall performance and endurance.

DON’T Neglect to Try Out Your Fitness Wear

Trying on your clothes a) before you buy them and b) before working out in them for the first time helps to make sure you are comfortable and that they fit well. Even try out some stretching positions to check for potential malfunction.

These are great ways to get in the spring fashion work out spirit. Knowing what to look for and the do’s and don’ts puts you in the perfect place to maximize all that having a fit and active lifestyle has to offer.
